LUX - FEM ANIMUS

  • The Grand Lodge 100 7th Avenue North Nashville, TN, 37203 United States (map)

As the conclusion of our special weekend of dance at the iconic Masonic Grand Lodge, join us on Sunday May 4th for LUX, a multi-genre-bending immersive odyssey created by Will Sacks and Lucien Vattel.

FEM Animus is an original DJ set channeling the primal, mythic, and multidimensional power of the feminine. This is a dance journey through archetypes and energies of the feminine—such as Isis, Kali, Lilith, Yeymaya, Inanna, and Mother Gaia and honor the animating principles present in the feminine mysteries that inform all of our existence.

FEM Animus contains original music created for the odyssey and is uniquely orchestrated for this Grand Lodge experience. From the divine mother to the dark goddess, from the nurturing lover to the fire-forged queen, FEM Animus is a tribute to the wildness, wisdom, shadow, and sovereignty of woman.

FEM Animus is myth in motion, music as ritual, sound as invocation, honoring the shadow and radiance of the feminine forces that animate us all.

Dress code is whatever inspires you to step into your feminine or honor the feminine in others.

We can’t wait to drop in with you on Sunday May 4th at the Grand Lodge!

EVENT DETAILS:

  • LOCATION: The Grand Lodge; 100 7th Ave N #4, Nashville, TN 37203. Enter the building through the main doors on 7th Ave, near the corner of Broadway (click for Google Maps Location).

  • EVENT TIME:  Check-in is from 10:00-10:20am. The doors to the building will lock at 10:20am. Please arrive on time so we can all be seated in the dance space by 10:25 for our Opening Circle, which starts promptly at 10:30am. This event ends around 12:30pm.

  • PARKING INFO: Parking downtown can be a bit tricky! Please account for the time needed to park and walk to the venue so you don’t get locked out. We offer these three options/suggestions:

    • ATTACHED LOT: You may purchase one of our 20, limited Carpool Parking Passes for $7 on our website and park in the attached lot behind The Lodge on Broadway. Please print and display in your window. These are for cars arriving with 2 or more people from different households inside (if you are a couple, we encourage you to carpool with a third person). For those who have a valid handicap tag or for those with active injuries, we have allocated 3 Accessibility Passes for this lot as well. Feel free to use our Whatsapp EDN Discussion Group to organize your carpool!

    • MUSIC CITY CENTER: The Music City Center has parking garage for $10 as well. The entrance to this garage is one block away from the Lodge on the corner of Demonbreun and 7th (click for Google Maps Location).

  • ENTRANCE FEE: $23/person. Kids are free! We prefer that you purchase your ticket in advance on our website (which you can do the morning of, if you’re not sure whether you’ll make it)! Our new ticketing system allows you choose whether to pay any added checkout fees (we encourage those who can to pay the checkout fees to keep the Zeffy platform thriving). You can also pay $23 Cash at the door. We will be phasing out taking Venmo Payments.

DANCE VALUES & GUIDELINES:

  • Be Clear: We are a sober event. Arrive clear in heart & body. The dance is the medicine.

  • Be Consensual: We value choice. Get a clear yes before involving others in your dance.

  • Be Present: No talking, cell phones, or videos/photos during the dance. Wild non-verbal sounds are always welcome! Kindly move all conversations—even small ones—to the lobby.

  • Be Inclusive: This is a safe space where all humans can come practice, pray, and play. Embody a universal perspective that is inclusive to all. All colors, ethnicities, sizes, ages, abilities, sexualities, genders, & religions are welcome.

  • Be Barefoot: No shoes in the dance space (unless you need them for medical reasons).

  • Be Tidy: Help keep the lobby and dance space organized and free of obstacles. Neatly deposit your shoes and jackets in the designated area of the lobby only and mindfully store small valuables and closed water bottles in the designated area in the dance hall only.

  • Be Punctual: We realize that mornings don’t always go as planned, but we kindly ask that you arrive between 10:10-10:20am to check in and get seated for our Opening Circle, which starts promptly at 10:30. To preserve our container, anyone not seated on time may be asked to wait in the lobby during our Opening Circle and Connection Exercises and enter the space when the DJ set has begun.

  • Be Attentive (of your Children): We love seeing children jumping, dancing, and exploring movement! Parents are responsible for their child(ren)’s safety as well as their whereabouts & noise level so as to not disrupt other dancers. Small children should be supervised at all times.

  • Be Accountable: We depend on every ticket sale to keep our non-profit going. Please ensure that you purchase a ticket each time you attend EDN. If you arrive late, please fill out the late arrival check in sheet and follow all printed late arrival instructions on the welcome table.

PHOTO & VIDEO POLICY

In order to provide a space most conducive to healing and full self expression, attendees may not take photos or videos during the dance and we ask that phones be left on silent and off your person. The only people taking photos and video will be a designated EDN staff/volunteer and the DJ. This is for marketing purposes in order to help build our community and show new people what Ecstatic Dance is all about. Photography and videography will be limited to the front half of dance floor closest to the DJ during Opening Circle and the first 15-20 minutes of the DJ set, allowing any attendees who wish to not be featured on camera to remain in the back half of the room for that duration.
